We began the 18-19 Rotary year with 110 members.  The year brought about a major change for East Memphis Rotary.  The Racquet Club where we held our weekly luncheons for 28 years closed in April 2018.   A committee looked at many options for a new meeting venue.  After six months Opera Memphis was chosen as our new meeting place thanks to the efforts of member Charles Reaves.  Our attendance has grown since moving which has proven to be a welcomed and unexpected positive for us.  We engaged Simply Fabulous as the caterer for weekly luncheons.  Two field trips were held this year, one at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and one at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.  We hosted seven delegates to the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy in Olive Branch.  The Dunavant program held its first Lifetime Achievement Award honoring former Shelby County Mayor William N. Morris at the Holiday Inn on Central Avenue with over 400 guests in attendance.  Annual Holiday Party was held at the home of President Bob Chance with 75 members and guests in attendance.  Our Newcomers Reception was held at Opera Memphis to welcome 11 new members.  The annual golf tournament benefitting our adopted school, White Station Elementary, was held at Memphis National Golf Club with 20 teams chaired by Larry Colbert.  Larry Colbert was named Rotarian of the Year.   We ended the year with 106 members.
