Membership on July 1, 2011 was 144. Our commitment to Georgia Avenue Elementary School held a special significance this year as the school was to be closed June, 2012 ending our 21-year adoptive history. Club meetings were held at the school in December 2011 and May 2012. Dictionaries were provided to all third graders, Jr. Achievement classes were held, 65 students received Angel Tree gifts. Dale Project provided 18 students with a bike for perfect attendance. Fredericka Hammett was named the Teacher of the Year. Memphis Board of Education presented to Dale McGee on behalf of the club a Resolution recognizing our commitment to Georgia Avenue School. Held first Polo Match social event in Rossville, TN and raised over $2,000 for Gift of Life. Sponsored 6 delegates to RYLA. 23 teams played in the annual golf tournament held at Chickasaw Country Club. Held luncheon to recognize Top 40 Under 40. Christmas party held at the home of Carolyn Wills with Newcomers Reception held at the offices of Butler Snow. Other social events included a reception at Fountain Gallery in Chickasaw Oaks and prospective new member reception held at Grisanti’s on Poplar. Dunavant luncheon held on February 22, 2012 at U of M Holiday Inn with 500 in attendance. Myron Lowery named elected winner and Ted Illsley, non-elected winner. Dr. Scott Morris was keynote speaker. RCME Foundation fund drive raised $21,350. John Seabold was named Rotarian of the Year. Membership on June 30, 2012 was 143.
