Membership on July 1, 2009 was 149. President Larry Colbert secured Community Coffee Co. as our speaker sponsor for the year. Speakers were given a souvenir bag of assorted coffee and mug. Continued commitment to Georgia Ave. School with club meetings held at the school in December 2009 and May 2010.Once again we presented all third graders with dictionaries, taught over 20 Junior Achievement classes, provided visit to JA BizTown, sixty students received Angel Tree gifts. Dale Project provided bikes to 26 students with perfect attendance. Vivian Garrett was named Teacher of the Year. Blind student Caia Smith received grant to travel to Los Angeles to compete in the National Braille competition. 20th Anniversary Celebration was held at the offices of Butler Snow with over 200 past and present Rotarians attending. Dunavant Awards Luncheon was held on April 28, 2010. Keynote speaker was Phil Gramm (R-TX). Germantown Mayor Sharon Goldsworthy was the elected winner with Mr. Jean Soucy, City of Memphis Div. of Public Works, named as non-elected winner. Golf Tournament was held at Germantown Country Club.Gift of Life program incorporated to become separate entity with 501(c)3 status to receive tax-deductible gifts. Held first blood drive with LifeBlood to support ailing member Warren Jordan. Five students sponsored at RYLA. Holiday Party was held at the home of Lauren & Norris McGehee. Terry Dunger was named Rotarian of the Year. Membership on June 30, 2010 was 137.
